Feature Usage and Engagement Analysis

Feature usage and engagement analysis focuses on understanding how users interact with different parts of a product. Instead of only tracking whether users log in, this analysis looks at which features they use, how often they use them, and how engaged they are during their sessions.

Feature usage is typically captured in the events table, where each event represents an action such as using a tool, clicking a feature, or exploring a section of the product. By analyzing these events, businesses can identify which features are popular and which ones are underused.

Engagement analysis goes further by measuring how actively users interact with the product. This can include the number of sessions, frequency of actions, and time spent in the product. High engagement often indicates that users find value, while low engagement may suggest usability or relevance issues.

For beginners, the goal is to:

  • Understand how feature usage is tracked through events
  • Identify which features users interact with
  • Measure engagement through activity levels
  • Recognize patterns in user behavior
  • Which features are used most frequently
  • How often users interact with specific features
  • Levels of user engagement
  • Differences in feature usage across users
