Module 1 Capstone

Module 1 Capstone — Escape the Shadow Castle
CORE PYTHON FOUNDATION · MODULE 1 CAPSTONE · UNITS 1–4

Escape the Shadow Castle

You are a Junior Game Developer at CodeQuest Studios. Your mission is to help Nova escape the Shadow Castle by building one small piece of Python game logic at a time. Every challenge uses skills from Module 1 only, and the code stays short, readable, and beginner-friendly.

What You Will Apply

Unit 1 · Developer ToolboxUse math, random, datetime, os, and statistics tools for game-style tasks.
Unit 2 · Variables & Data TypesCreate player stats with strings, integers, floats, Booleans, and simple updates.
Unit 3 · ConditionsUse if, elif, else, comparisons, logical operators, and inventory checks.
Unit 4 · LoopsRepeat actions with for and while loops, then control loops with break and continue.
Teen-friendly design: Complete one small coding move at a time. You never need functions, classes, files, or advanced Python in this capstone. Use Run & Verify, two progressive hints, the AI Tutor, and the solution unlock after three failed attempts.

Your Game Mission

Nova begins outside the castle with basic stats and must solve puzzles, collect treasure, survive enemies, search a backpack, and unlock the final gate.

HeroNova — a new adventurer learning to survive with Python.
GearSword, potion, torch, map, and eventually the castle key.
Final GoalSurvive the enemy wave and escape through the locked castle gate.
player_name = “Nova” health = 60 inventory = [“sword”, “potion”, “key”] enemies = [“slime”, “goblin”, “orc”]

Capstone flow: toolbox → player variables → game decisions → loops → final mini-game system.
